Summer Slam 2026: A Night for Syracuse Basketball

On July 22, I opened our home in Skaneateles for Summer Slam in support of Syracuse University Men’s Basketball. While it was inspired by basketball, the event was for the Syracuse community.
Suzie, our family, and I were grateful to host a night that brought players, coaches, alumni, friends, and supporters together around Syracuse Basketball. Gerry McNamara and Carmelo Anthony were part of the evening, along with people from across Central New York who care about the university and its future.
We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to my close friend Dave Lane for joining me as a presenting sponsor through JJ Lane Construction. Dave’s generosity and support meant so much to this event. We are also incredibly grateful to my friend Carmelo Anthony for playing such an important role and helping make Summer Slam such a memorable night.
The fundraiser supports NIL opportunities for Syracuse student-athletes. That support matters. It helps our athletes compete at the highest level and gives them the backing they need as college sports continue to change.
For me, the best part of the evening was seeing so many different people in the same room. People with different backgrounds, professions, and opinions came together as Orange fans. The room felt easy. There was a lot of conversation, a lot of laughter, and a real sense that everyone wanted to be there.
Sports have a way of doing that. They give families shared memories and give young people something to look forward to. Syracuse Basketball has been part of Central New York for generations, and it was meaningful to see that connection carry into another summer.
Grant was one of the most memorable parts of the night. As our honorary captain and judge, and as a Make-A-Wish recipient, he brought joy and perspective that stayed with me. We hoped the evening would give Grant something to remember. He gave the evening something in return.
The money raised will support Syracuse University Men’s Basketball through NIL. I am grateful to everyone who helped make that possible, including those who attended, volunteered, sponsored, donated, and helped bring the night together.

Summer Slam was a special night for Syracuse Basketball and for Central New York. I am grateful to be part of a community that continues to show up for its university and its young people.
