This year, the Whitman School’s annual Orange Tank competition marked an incredible milestone – ten years of igniting entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and drive in the students and alumni of Syracuse University. It’s one thing to talk about entrepreneurship in a classroom, but it’s another to bring ideas to life, standing in front of a panel of judges, showcasing what you’ve poured your heart into. That’s what Orange Tank is about, empowering students to take bold steps and shape their futures.

This competition has been an incredible platform for students and alumni to pitch business ideas with real potential to industry veterans who understand the impact that these young visionaries could have. The energy in that room was contagious, each pitch was a testament to the ambition and resilience of these students. It was an honor to be part of the judging panel alongside accomplished entrepreneurs and Whitman alumni who share a commitment to fostering the next generation of creators and innovators. Seeing these students’ dedication reminded us of why competitions like Orange Tank are essential in fueling the next generation of entrepreneurs. They provide students not only with the chance to gain feedback but also with a real, impactful investment in their growth and potential.

Throughout the evening, current players took the stage to share their own aspirations for the season and express what it means to wear that Orange jersey. Listening to these young men who are filled with talent, drive, and pride was a testament to how Syracuse basketball has become so much more than a game. This team is fiercely committed to honoring the giants on whose shoulders they stand, and they are ready to carry forward the legacy, adding their own chapters to it.

For our family, this event held special significance, as our son, Noah, is now part of this team. Watching him and his teammates step into their roles with such enthusiasm and respect for the game has been deeply moving. There’s a unique pride in seeing the next generation rise to uphold the values and legacy of Syracuse basketball.

Thank you to everyone who attended, who shared in this special night, and who continues to support Syracuse basketball. Your presence is more than just support; it’s a signal that this program’s legacy will endure for generations to come. Together, as a community, we are fueling the next generation of entrepreneurs to create their own legacies, lifting the Orange to new heights.
